Safely in community
The STORM association has been carrying out preventive activities especially in the Nitra and Trnava Region for over 15 years. They are focusing mainly on protection of public health and health of clients and people living in towns of Sereď, Nitra and Trnava. Public health protection includes activities involving disposal of injection equipment lying around on the ground in towns. The objective is to search for and safely dispose of used injecting needles and to reduce the chance of becoming infected in case of accidental injuries. The regular nature of collection of injecting needles and involvement of the community in identifying exposed locations guarantees that the amount of this material in public spaces is reduced. Besides these collections, workers regularly check so-called FIX POINTS, storage boxes for injection material, located in Nitra, Trnava and Zvolen.

Chillout zones at festivals
The atmosphere at many, especially music and dance, festivals may invite one to experiment with drug use. Our preventive activities aim to draw attention to risks related to drug use, combining different drugs and underestimating their effects. We also come with harm reduction recommendations which may help reduce damages or other negatives.

Preventive lecturing activities
The programme on a regular yearly basis offers preventive discussions and activities dealing with topics such as human trafficking, prevention of HIV/AIDS, marijuana, how to talk about drugs, how to safely dispose of found injecting needles, etc. Discussions or group meetings pertain to most frequent myths and facts, encourage responsible behaviour and strive to break the taboo related to these topics.
